What do FrontPage Extensions do?
FrontPage server Extensions enable the ever important
publishing capability in FrontPage so you don't have to be concerned with
what pages have been changed and what files need to written to the server.
There are also a set of FrontPage web components that require the
FrontPage Extensions to be installed upon the server (more on this below).
Must I have FrontPage Extensions to publish a web
with FrontPage?
No, but then you have to publish the web using FTP and keep
track of what files need to published to the server. FrontPage 2003 also
provides support for publishing to both File Transfer Protocol (FTP) or
Web Distributed Authoring and Versioning (WebDAV) servers.
Can FrontPage Extensions run on any server?
FrontPage Extensions can be loaded on Microsoft NT, 2000,
2003 or XP servers running IIS and also various UNIX / Linux servers.

I've heard that there are no FrontPage 2003 Server
Extensions. Is that true?
Microsoft will continue to support FP2002 extensions on the
Windows and UNIX/Apache server platforms but will be pouring its
development effort in to Windows SharePoint™ Services They will also
update the FrontPage 2002 server extensions to support Microsoft Internet
Information Services (IIS 6.0), but will not add any additional Web site
authoring functionality.
